Consumer Credit Counseling: WorhThe Shirt off Your Back?

December 25th, 2009 · No Comments · Credit Report Repair

Many are those who are wondering if consumer credit counseling works; wondering if it works well, and wondering if at even works at all. We’ll answer those questions in this article. We’ll also offer effective alternative debt relief solutions.

First to the question of whether or not consumer credit counseling works.

This is almost a trick question. The reason is this: the “counseling” aspect of consumer credit counseling always “works”. It work in the sense that the consumer is in fact receiving credit counseling, counseling regarding credit issues. Effective ways and means for budgeting, saving money, paying bill, and making ends meet are instructed to the consumer.

So consumers are in fact receiving goon counsel. But is it effective in reducing debt in some way? This is the bigger question. Consumer credit counseling when used with the creation of a personal or household budget can help consumers eliminate unneeded and unwarranted expenses. This fiscal savings can then be applied towards paying down credit card debt.

Yet most consumers are already very much aware of their income vs expenses. So in many ways, consumers are being fed what they already know, or already should know. But sometimes we humans can avoid taking action on our own unless and until another party impresses on us what actions should be taken.

But for consumers that are deeply in debt or too far gone in debt already, consumer credit counseling will not help much or help at all in many cases. Large debt issues cannot be resolved by simply robbing Peter to Paul; juggling finances so to speak. These consumers need the benefit of debt relief programs that aim to reduce it.

Ranked best among debt relief programs is debt settlement. This is an amazingly effective debt relief program. It works by a debt relief professional negotiating on behalf of the consumer with the consumer’s creditors. The aim of these negotiations is an agreed upon reduction in the total amount of debt that is owed.
